Homemade Sports Drink Recipe for Electrolyte Balance Support

To help prevent unpleasant signs of electrolyte imbalance, it's important to stay hydrated. But sometimes plain water just isn't enough. Sports drinks can help, but they can be expensive and often contain synthetic ingredients that aren't good for your body.

To maintain a healthy electrolyte balance during or after a heavy workout or while you are on a low-carb Paleo or keto diet, give this homemade DIY sports drink a try:

DIY SPORTS DRINK RECIPE

  • 6 cups chilled, filtered water
  • 1/2 tsp. potassium chloride or lite salt
  • 3 tsp. powdered magnesium supplement
  • Juice of one lemon (medium size)
  • 1/8 to 1/4 tsp. sea salt or Himalayan salt, or to taste
  • Stevia to taste

Mix all ingredients in a non-metallic container, refrigerate, then drink throughout the day, particularly before and after your workouts.
